Jean – Guillaume Cabanne is a precursor of the French minimal techno scene. This confirmed jazzman has already collaborated with a large range of labels and artists, for now it’s about 35 releases !! After 5 years spent as a guitar player within the funk band Flag and few experiences among the electronic scene, his meeting with John Thomas in 1996 will confirm his will to go further in this way as dj and producer. Logistic, John’s label, will be the first structure to receive the productions of this prolix artist : he signs his two first EPs in 1997 (Log 03 & 04). In 2000, he set up with Logistic the sub-label Telegraph, exclusively dedicated to the minimal techno sound he likes, and takes the lead of its artistic direction. In addition of his own productions, Cabanne will also be the instigator of the “Post Office” compilation series. Since that time, he had also come out a large bunch of EPs on many labels like Perlon, Karat, 7th City – the label set up by the two pioneers of the American minimal techno Dan Bell and Claude Young – or Force Inc for a remix of Akufen. Appart from the solo production, he also works on many group projects, which could be long-lasting – the coproduction of the “Blackstage” album with John Thomas, the Copacabannark crazy group with Ark and Ultrakurt with David Gluck. He’s been mixing around the world in clubs such as the Rex (Paris), the Panorama Bar (Berlin), Unit (Tokyo), Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), Subtonic (New-York), l’Usine (Geneva) and festivals like Mutek in Montreal and Mexico. For six years now Cabanne is also well known for his live shows with Ark, Krikor, Thomas Brinkman, Dan Bell or for example when he takes part to the “Narod Niki” project … All theses years he’s been seeking to play techno as you play funk music … hot and funky !! Such experiences have made him one of the most forward-thinking artist of the scene. Dan Bell, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Akufen and Richie Hawtin played Cabanne’s track in their mixed CD, no wonder then if people are looking for his next releases !

Today he’s busy working at Minibar – the label he created in 2005 with Eric Vence – and still thinking about new projects to complete. A Minibar Music Compliation came out in January 2008 and his first release on Hello?Repeat in March 2008.
